troof

the sumerian civilization left behind over a million stone and clay tablets depicting their daily lives and their interactions with the "gods." many of these tablets are accounts of stories from our bible that predate biblical history by thousands of years...

it is a bit vain to think that earth is the planet described in the bible...

the translations of these tablets are a bit "Lovecraftian" but none the less real and fascinating...

forgive the dramatic music and cheesy re-enactments (it does make the process a bit more fun... ha)

i luv y'all

this is just the bginning, these tablets go on for days

our planet is surrounded by garbage...

this is something you, like me, already knew... but it's creepy to see visual representations of it.

Cory Arcangel and paper rad 2005

Cory Arcangel re-works entertainment technology

I saw a couple of his hacked NES consoles in Zurich last February.

If you still have an NES console, a copy of this is available on a Nintendo cartridge from his website

Frozen Garden of Eden...way cool. literally!

Norway has launched its "Noah's Ark" of the plant kingdom, an underground vault built to protect millions of crop seeds from climate change, wars and natural disasters.

The vault, built within an Arctic mountain 1,000km from the North Pole in the remote Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, was officially opened on Tuesday.

"The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is our insurance policy," Jens Stoltenberg, Norway's prime minister, told delegates at the opening ceremony.

"It is the Noah's Ark for securing biological diversity for future generations."

Backup plan

The cavern will act as a backup storage for seeds from gene banks around the world.

Initially, 100 million seeds from more than 100 countries have been sent for safekeeping at the $10m facility which holds 268,000 distinct seed samples, each from a different farm or field.

Stoltenberg said the vault, would guard "the fundamental building blocks of human civilisation" from forces, including climate change, threatening the "diversity of life that sustain our planet".

The Norwegian prime minister and Wangari Maathai, a Kenyan environmentalist and 2004 Nobel peace prize winner, put the first box of seeds in the vault at the inauguration ceremony.

The 'Doomsday' vault's seed deposits range from major African and Asian staples such as rice, maize, wheat, cowpea and sorghum to European and South American varieties of eggplant, lettuce, barley and potato.

'Frozen Garden of Eden'

"We will have a major [seed] collection here, one of the biggest in the world, from the opening day," Cary Fowler, head of the Global Crop Diversity Trust, which is funding the operations of the vault, said.

"We are going to put an end to extinction with this vault because we are going to have a safety backup, a Plan B."

Jose Manuel Barroso, the European commission president, was also at the ceremony.

He called the project "a frozen Garden of Eden".

Roger Smith, the founder of the Millennium Seed Bank in the UK's Kew Gardens, told Al Jazeera there needed to be greater understanding of just how endangered some plant life is.

"We're talking about a something like a rate of extinction 70 times greater for plants than is in the geographical record - we're talking about thousands of species being lost," he said.

Smith called the Svalbard vault a "double indemnity", saying "it is the safe deposit box where seed banks can put some of their contents for security".

The seeds will be kept at a storage temperature of minus 18-20 degrees Celsius.

Barley can survive 2,000 years, wheat 1,700 and sorghum almost 20,000 years under such conditions, according to the Global Crop Diversity Trust.

If the freezers failed, the permafrost would keep the cavern at around minus 4 Celsius, allowing time for repairs.

"I like having a Plan B to our Plan B," Fowler said.

we'll meet again...

The first nuclear explosion in history took place in New Mexico, at the Alamogordo Test Range, on the Jornada del Muerto (Journey of Death) desert, in the test named Trinity. This test was intended to prove the radical new implosion weapon design that had been developed at Los Alamos during the previous year. This design, embodied in the test device called Gadget, involved a new technology that could not be adequately evaluated without a full scale test. The gun-type uranium bomb, in contrast, was certain to be effective and did not merit testing. In addition, since no nuclear explosion had ever occurred on Earth, it seemed advisible that at least one should be set off with careful monitoring to test whether all of the theoretical predictions held.
(This has the the original sound so you might want to turn your speakers down.)

This kinda speaks for itself.

The Crossroads Series tests were the first nuclear explosions since World War II, and the first nuclear weapon tests since Trinity. These were the first "weapons effects" tests ever conducted - tests designed specifically to study how nuclear explosions affect other things - rather than tests of the behavior of a weapon design (as was Trinity). The purpose of the tests was to examine the effects of nuclear explosions on naval vessels, planes, and animals.

The next two videos are the largest nuclear weapon ever.
The bomb was tested on October 30, 1961, in Novaya Zemlya, an archipelago in the Arctic Sea. Tsar Bomba' (Царь-бомба, literally "Emperor Bomb") is the Western name for the RDS-220 (codenamed "Ivan" by its developers), which was the largest, most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated. Developed by the Soviet Union, the bomb was originally designed to have a yield of about 100 megatons of TNT, however that was reduced by half in order to limit the amount of nuclear fallout that would result.

facebook is gonna cut off yer face and sell it to you for a profit in the name of freedom... and the c.i.a

i'm continualy amazed and freaked out by the interweb... bam!!!
...so the c.i.a. is quite possibly collecting info on you right now (via facebook... seriously read the article, way more to say of value than i do.). creepy... but who isn't? google's prolly had you clocked fer years...
look here and here...
...and we all know... and it gives us shivers from time to time, but what the fuck are you going to do about it really? convenience is king.
by logging into this here blogger account via my gmail address i am adding to my file... a file that no doubt includes everything i've ever posted on myspace, numerous photos i've uploaded to flickr and photobucket... the music i've aquired from limewire and soulseek... the airline tickets i've purchased through priceline... books from amazon... jennifers countless dresses from ebay... and then of course there's my credit history... school records... medical info... the 75 or more times i've been on camera today (apparently the average in london is around 300 times a day)...
very little in this world is anonymous...
even paper money helps keep an eye on who you are and what you do via rfid... after talking about it for years they've, quite recently, actually done it.
this bitch is has allot to say on the subject... she's awesome.

there's even a little tracker i can check to see who's been reading this blog today via their ip address... i can't imagine it would be that hard use that info to figure out an exact physical address.
so this is the part where i get really stoned and watch zeitgeist again... then freak out because someone else has done a better job of what i just did... take a bunch of stuff we all allready know, extrapolate on it ever so slightly, lump it together and put in some ominous music.
it sucks being this completely fucked and totally accepting it..
here is yer ominous music.
