hootie and the blowfish

i found this image when i put "hootie and the blowfish" into a google image search...

I never hated Hootie, in fact, I'm actually a closet fan, I felt like they made songs that made people happy. Growing up in a small town I have a small appreciation for bar rock. (maybe it's because i was roomates with a guy back in 1995 who looked like their drummer, played similar music, andwas a really awesome dude)
I also know that most shunned bands usually have a wider taste of music than their fans, musicians are musicians, just because we don't all make artistic statements, doesn't mean we haven't been impacted by some.
Hootie to me seemed like some college friends that got really lucky and never meant any artistic harm, they just played some music...

they also did a smiths cover...
you can click the photo to hear it...
(scroll down after clicking and click on the little listen icon next to the song penned by morrissey and marr)
it's not good, but it is (in my opinion) a heartfelt tribute, because really, what would they gain commercially from covering a britpop song.

vagina power saved my life.

it's been a rough day...
and i came home to bad news... news so bad in fact that i'm missing the show i've been looking forward to for over a month now(girls is the best band EVER).
the only saving grace keeping me from a middle school girl style cutting session is vagina power.
shortly after walking through my front door i heard something familiar... vaguely so, but assuredly familiar. jennifer was watching vagina power.

(from wikipedia entry)
Takeshi Kitano (北野 武, Kitano Takeshi?, born January 18, 1947 in Umejima, Adachi, Tokyo) is a Japanese comedian, actor, presenter, author, poet, painter, one-time video game designer, film editor and film director who has received critical acclaim, both in his native Japan and abroad, for his highly idiosyncratic cinematic work. With the exception of his works as a film director, he is known almost exclusively by the name Beat Takeshi (ビートたけし, Bīto Takeshi). Since April 2005, he has been a professor at the Graduate School of Visual Arts, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

Kitano owns his own film company, Office Kitano, which launched Tokyo Filmex in 2000. Kitano's films are typically dramas about Yakuza gangsters or the police, referred to by critics as being highly deadpan to the point of near-stasis. He often uses long takes where nothing appears to be happening, or with edits that cut immediately to the aftermath of an event. Many of his films express a bleak or nihilistic philosophy, but they are also filled with a great deal of humor and remarkable affection for their characters. Kitano's films paradoxically seem to leave controversial impressions. While formally disguised as dark comedies or gangster movies, his films raise moral questions and provide food for thought.

While Kitano's international fame continues to rise, the Japanese public knows him primarily as a TV host and comedian.[citation needed] His portrayal of Zatōichi in the 2003 movie is said[weasel words] to be his biggest domestic commercial success.

During interviews, Kitano is careful to hide his enigmatic personality behind the mask of being a comedian and regular guy. He hosts a weekly television program called Beat Takeshi's TV Tackle (ビートたけしのTVタックル), a kind of panel discussion among entertainers and politicians regarding controversial current events. But Kitano's primary role is to provide comic relief and he rarely shares his true feelings regarding controversial social issues. Although he interviewed Shoko Asahara, founder of the controversial Japanese religious movement Aum Shinrikyo, on at least two occasions,[citation needed] his attitude towards religion is unknown.[citation needed]

look at your game girl.

look at your game girl
one of my favorite charlie manson tracks... he really did have allot going on despite how it all turned out... i mean if you ignore the child prostitution, brainwashing, murder conspiring, cult action... he could have made it as a pretty amazing freak folk artist.
i know i've posted about him before... and i probably will again... what can i say the guy is interesting.
it's really dennis wilsons fault the tate murder deally happened.
in 1968, dennis picked up a couple of female hitchhikers, and took them back to his place on sunset... by the following night the family was all up in his grill... they stayed there for months eating up all his snacks usin' his towels and shit... you know generally bein' annoying... but manson had the girls work as servents to earn their keep... was it worth it in the end? prolly not... wilson dropped at least $100k dealing with various gonorrhea outbreaks among the family and handling some uninsured car crash action... all he really got out of it was a b-side.
manson version streaming clip(cease to exist)
beach boys version streaming clip(never learn not to love)
"On August 9, 1969, a group of Manson's followers brutally murdered Sharon Tate and other residents of a home formerly occupied by Beach Boys' producer, Terry Melcher, who had moved out just a short time before."
charlie was pissed because melcher had dissed him.... never would have happened were it not for dennis wilson.
the beach boys still rock though.

hurricane shit.

i have serious control issues...or at the very least i have anxiety in regards to things that i do that other people are involved in. i can't stand todays radio installment... in reality, there isn't anything wrong with it, i just dont approve of some of the transitions. and this fact is slowly eating away at my brain. i do the same thing at clubs... if i'm uncomfortable with another dj's choices i hyperventilate and then take control of the tables (which i didn't do this time... take control that is)... i'm a baby. but it doesnt matter, thats the thing... it doesnt matter. my crazy isnt making any of it better. and there wasnt anything that was particularly wrong. i'm just a nuerotic shitstorm wholloping the coast with shitastrophy, bringing upon the shitpocolypse... one pathetic tantrum filled shitisode at a time. shit.
